Citizens Bank donates generously to the communities it serves.
It’s not unusual to see a senior officer grilling hot dogs or hamburgers for staff, or volunteering to “kiss a pig” to help raise money for a local charity. Even the dress code helps out the local community. Every employee can pay $1 each Friday to wear jeans. Once $500 is collected, the money is donated to a charity chosen by staff.
Citizens has generous leave policies for employees and encourages them to take their vacations. After one year of employment, the company gives 10 days of paid vacation, 10 days of paid sick leave and two personal days. Citizens rewards employees who volunteer with three extra vacation days every six months.
Employees are encouraged to grow in their jobs through the EDGE Program, which is an in-house program to help develop promising talent within the company. The company also helps employees with tuition reimbursement as they pursue their undergraduate education.
Employees are treated to a birthday lunch with Citizens Bank’s CEO, Phil Baldwin. In addition, employees receive a birthday card with a $25 gift card.
Management doles out small gifts and treats to employees. It comes up with fun contests and drawings to show appreciation for employees and their hard work. At least once a year, small logo gifts are given to all employees such as a popsocket, cup, car coaster or phone charger.
Other work perks include potlucks, cookouts and breakfasts catered throughout the year. The freezer is also stocked with ice cream during the dog days of summer. Citizens holds an annual company Christmas party, cookies with Santa for the kids and summer picnics.
