A company called Blue Rooster plans to open a poultry deboning operation and employ 100 people at 110 Industrial Park Drive in Warren, the Arkansas Economic Development Commission said Wednesday.
The firm will take over a facility formerly used by H&L Poultry. AEDC said the company will primarily work for Ozark Mountain Poultry of Rogers, which is a majority owner of Blue Rooster.
AEDC said the company is aiming to begin production in October. Blue Rooster is leasing the facility through an agreement with the Arkansas Development Finance Authority.
“Blue Rooster’s decision to locate a poultry facility in Warren is great news for Southern Arkansas,” Gov. Mike Beebe said in a news release. “We appreciate the City of Warren, the Arkansas Development Finance Authority and the Arkansas Economic Development Commission for working together to make this project possible.”
People interested in working at the plant can pick up an application starting Monday at the Old Warren National Guard Armory at 101 South Martin St.
Ozark Mountain Poultry produces more than 3 million pounds of antibiotic-free poultry per week for the restaurant industry. Its consumer brands Forester Farmer’s Market is also available at a grocery stores throughout the country.
Ronnie Hightower will be plant manager and Jeff Coffman will be facilities manager. Hightower and Coffman are part owners of Blue Rooster.
