Bourbon & Boots to Open New HQ in Argenta

2 min read

Bourbon & Boots, the central Arkansas startup acquired by Rod Ford’s XCelerate Capital in May, announced Thursday that it will open a new headquarters in the Argenta District of downtown North Little Rock.

Ford said the startup is renovating office space on the entire second floor at 314 Main above the former Cornerstone Pub and expects to move in early next month.

Bourbon & Boots is an online Southern-themed marketplace founded by Little Rock entrepreneur Matt Price. Based in Little Rock, it had operated a storefront at 419 Main in Argenta.

Ford said Bourbon & Boots looked on both sides of the river for a new location and found that Argenta what he was looking for: readily available, cost-effective and “tech-enabled” space. He said the startup energy there reminds him of northwest Arkansas in the early days of its startup growth.

He said downtown Little Rock offers “virtually zero such inventory” for startups like Bourbon & Boots.

“Bluntly, before the acquisition of Bourbon & Boots, my knowledge of Argenta was limited, but after a couple of months of working with leadership, it is clear to me that Argenta is the place to be in central Arkansas if you are a startup or early-stage company,” Ford said.

Ford said in that in the six weeks since he purchased the company, he has hired a dozen new employees and expects rapid growth as he scales the brand to capitalize on the “national infatuation” with the Southern lifestyle.

Some Bourbon & Boots vendors have not been happy amid the change in ownership. Arkansas Business reported earlier this month that several vendors, including those who will work with the new management, said they are still owed payment from past invoices — a liability the new management said it never assumed.
