The Bowen School of Law will celebrate its 45th anniversary as part of the University of Arkansas at Little Rock the Barrister Gala on Oct. 22.

In addition to being 45 years since the General Assembly enacted legislation making it the UA-Little Rock School of Law, 2021 also marks 55 years since the school began as a night program of the University of Arkansas School of Law.

Event co-chairs are alumni Michelle Ator, a partner at Friday Eldredge & Clark in Little Rock, and Dustin McDaniel, a founding partner at McDaniel Wolff & Benca in Little Rock.

The school was renamed for William H. Bowen, a lawyer, banker and philanthropist, in 2000.

“We are excited to mark this occasion and celebrate Bowen’s history as Little Rock’s law school,” Dean Theresa M. Beiner said on the law school’s website. “Our alumni are daily examples of Bowen’s core values of access to justice, public service, and professionalism. To us, they are all distinguished; but that would make for a very long ceremony.”

Tickets for the 2021 Barrister Gala are $250. Tickets and tables can be reserved by contacting Assistant Dean for External Relations Wanda Hoover at wghoover@ualr.edu or by calling (501) 916-5425.

(Correction, June 14: The date for the gala was changed last week. The correct date is Oct. 22.)
