To combat the unforeseen mental stress on employees, Peoples Bank allotted two mental health days for each employee that could be used at any time, no questions asked.

After Publishing Concepts Inc. started working 100% from home, it conducted the True Trust Check-In. Senior Leadership selected five to 10 associates to call and check up on.

To help with morale, St. Bernards Medical Center held monthly employee appreciation events where it treated staff to a variety of goodies like St. Bernards YETI cups, Tropical Sno, free Redbox rentals with individual popcorn, free coffee cards and more.

The SHARE Foundation expanded the use of its Illness Bank Accruals to cover school closings.

SupplyPike created multiple social Slack channels to ensure employees felt connected and not isolated. These included daily photo challenges, weekly quarantine games and more.

In response to the COVID-19 outbreak, Ritter Communications implemented Hero Pay, which resulted in a pay rate increase for employees unable to work from home. Through late April the company paid $854,000 in Hero Pay to these employees above and beyond their usual rate.

So employees did not have to endure financial hardship during this unprecedented time, WELSCO Inc. provided additional paid leave to make sure people were not negatively impacted. For many employees, this amounted to more than 30 days of additional paid leave.

FUN STUFF PERKS

Secret Pal is a concept at Peoples Bank that is similar to Secret Santa, but is bank-wide. Employees who participate are anonymously given a coworker’s name and are responsible for spoiling their pals for the quarter.

Halloween at Ritter Communications comes complete with a Halloween costume contest in which employees wear their best costumes to work and are judged by a third party, often a customer, with an overall best winner and second and third places.

Publishing Concepts Inc. has a career placing system that assists with unbiased hiring, hiring interns from historically Black colleges and universities, recognizing multicultural holidays and conducting monthly meaningful conversations centered on race and social justice.

Rainwater, Holt & Sexton has a fully stocked vending machine with 25-cent snacks, and all proceeds are matched by the Partners and donated to a local organization of the employees’ choice.

Employees at Ritter Communications may take up to eight hours of paid time per calendar year to participate in events or activities that support any 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization or community-sponsored organization in the communities it serves.

The Deployment Program sends care packages to deployed Total Quality Logistics employees. The packages include TQL swag, snacks and handwritten notes from their team to deployed employees. TQL also sends a gift card to the families of deployed employees to show support.

Each year, WELSCO Inc. hosts the golf tournament Drives for Disabilities to benefit Easterseals Arkansas. Employees and suppliers are the major participants in the event, which raises a considerable amount for the organization.
