Brad Baltz Sets Up New Office as CARTI Door Continues to TurnLock Icon

2 min read

Even as CARTI was laying off six of his former support staffers last week, Dr. Brad Baltz was firming up plans for resuming his medical practice.

He told Whispers that he had signed a lease on Suite 514 of the Doctors Building at 500 S. University Ave. in Little Rock. The space is next to the office of Dr. Joseph Beck, but the two oncologists will not be practicing together.

Nor does Baltz intend to stay there long. This is a temporary location where he can do follow-up visits and meet new patients until midsummer, when he expects to have a full-service chemotherapy infusion center open elsewhere in Little Rock.

Baltz, long the highest-paid physician at the cancer treatment clinic, has hired Arkansas Physician Management Inc. to manage his solo practice.

“I only want to be back to work and taking care of patients. I am a workaholic, and I love my people, and I just want to get back to work.”

New Faces
The six members of Baltz’s team who were laid off Thursday were among 17 CARTI employees let go that day, CEO Adam Head told Arkansas Business. (Five vacant positions were also eliminated.)

But the door swings both ways …

A replacement for Bryson Green, who departed as CARTI’s human resources director a couple of months ago, has been hired. She is Christine Worth, who will arrive from a similar position with Arkansas Federal Credit Union of Jacksonville on April 30.

A successor for Kathi Jones, who had announced her retirement as president of the CARTI Foundation effective June 30, has been hired sooner than expected, Head said. She is Katherine L. Friend, most recently head of seven foundations associated with Novant Health in Charlotte, North Carolina. It will be a return to Little Rock for Friend, who formerly worked under Fred Scarborough as senior vice president of the Arkansas Children’s Hospital Foundation. Friend will start her new job May 7.

And an interventionist radiologist, Dr. Edgar St. Amour, will join the medical staff on July 11.

It’s a return home for St. Amour, who is a graduate of the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences.
