Brian Gittens Accepts Vice Chancellor Role at UAMS (Movers & Shakers)

Brian Gittens was named vice chancellor for diversity, equity and inclusion for the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock.


Dody Pelts has been named director of the Jones Learning Center at the University of the Ozarks in Clarksville. This promotion will be effective July 1. Pelts is filling the position held for 25 years by Julia Frost, who announced her retirement in April.


Donald Walker has been appointed director of the Arkansas Coding Academy at the University of Central Arkansas in Conway. Walker has 30 years of experience as an officer in the United States Air Force. He also holds a doctoral degree in computer science from Colorado Technical University.


MacKenzie Magwire was recently hired by UCA as the new athletics director of marketing and promotions. Magwire previously worked at Northwest Missouri State University as assistant athletic director for marketing, promoting and licensing.


Hendrix College has named John Krebs and Matthew D. Moran distinguished professors. Krebs will be named the Willis H. Holmes Distinguished Professor of Music, and Moran will be named the Elbert L. Fausett Distinguished Professor of Biology at the installation ceremony Aug. 29.
