The Broadway Bridge between Little Rock and North Little Rock carries morning commuters across the Arkansas River for the first time since last August.
The Arkansas Highway & Transportation Department was presented a bridge engineering award for the new Broadway Bridge at the International Bridge Conference in June.
The Eugene C. Figg Jr. Medal for Signature Bridges was presented to the department by the Engineers’ Society of Western Pennsylvania.
The bridge was designed by Garver of North Little Rock and subcontractor HNTB of Kansas City, Missouri.
Col. Gerald Donohue was recently introduced as the new commander of the 19th Airlift Wing, which is based at Little Rock Air Force Base.
Donohue previously commanded the 86th Operations Group at Ramstein Air Base in Germany.
