Bryan Burks
Bryan Burks has been named vice president of advancement at Harding University, the school announced.
Burks currently is dean of the Paul R. Carter College of Business Administration at Harding. His appointment becomes effective July 15. He will direct Harding’s advancement efforts and lead a team of seven fundraising professionals in the office.
Burks, 48, succeeds Mike Williams, who left Harding on May 31 to become president of Faulkner University in Montgomery, Alabama.
Burks joined the Harding faculty in 1995 and was appointed dean of the College of Business in 2002.
“Bryan Burks brings a number of special strengths to this position,” said Harding President Bruce McLarty in a news release. “He is widely respected and liked both in the Harding community and among off campus constituencies. His 20 years in the classroom as a faculty member and his 13 years as dean give him a deep understanding of the needs and operations of academics in the university.”
Prior to joining the Harding faculty, Burks worked as a senior accountant for Ernst & Young in Nashville, Tennessee. He received his bachelor’s degree from Harding in 1989 and his MBA from Middle Tennessee State University in 1995. He also holds a doctorate in business administration from Nova Southeastern University.
