Bill Burckart is putting his money where his mouth is.
Burckart is the owner of Burckart Construction in Bentonville and is a member of the City Council.
He was also a member of the Walton Family Foundation research committee that put together the 2019 report “Our Housing Future,” which called attention to the region’s lack of affordable housing.
Burckart is doing something about it.
He just paid $1.55 million for 6.7 acres off Medlin Lane, just north of SE Walton Boulevard, to build 120 condominium units starting at $250,000.
Engineering and design plans have not been finalized, Burckart said, but he hopes to break ground in spring 2023.
Burckart said the complex will be on the Bentonville trail system and close to city amenities. He called it a “unique, modern, luxury” community. “To provide housing in the core of Bentonville is paramount to our future in Bentonville,” he said.
