Burger Mama’s Open Again After Tax Troubles

1 min read

Tax troubles led to the sudden closure Feb. 3 of Burger Mama’s Chicken Fish & More. The restaurant is now back open for business.

Here’s what happened: After the move to 7710 Cantrell Road from 1071 Kanis Road, Burger Mama’s had some tax troubles and closed for two days, a Friday and a Saturday.

Owner Delphia Jones said she moved the joint because the owner of her Kanis Road facility sold the place to redevelop for coming Dunkin’ Donuts and Panera Bread locations.

Due to relocating, and perhaps 17 days of being closed to move, “we just got behind,” Jones said on Thursday.

Roberta Overman, manager of the sales tax section for the Arkansas Department of Finance & Administration, said Burger Mama’s was at least three months behind in its taxes, or it would not have been forced to close.

Whatever occurred, Burger Mama’s remedied the tax situation and is open again.
