Glen Jones, 42, will take the reins of Henderson State University in July.
The Blytheville native and current executive assistant to the president for diversity initiatives at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro doesn’t plan immediately to make any changes when he becomes president of Henderson.

“I plan to bring an attitude of listening,” Jones said. “There are a lot of tremendous people at Henderson, and my wife and I are very excited … to serve the people at Henderson, Arkadelphia and the state in this new capacity.”
Glen Jones will succeed Bobby Jones, who has served as interim president since the departure of Charles Welch to head the ASU System in 2011. Glen Jones has spent most of his career in higher education. Out of law school, Jones did consulting work with some law firms and accounting firms, but he took a job in higher education in 1996 upon graduating from the University of Florida with his advanced law degree.
From 1996 to 2000, Jones served as assistant professor of business law at ASU in Jonesboro. He taught accounting and taxation from 2000 to 2002 at Henderson, and then returned to ASU to work as executive assistant to the president for diversity initiatives from 2002 to 2012. From 2008 to 2010, he also held the position of senior associate vice chancellor for academic affairs and research at ASU.
