Butterball LLC has been the recipient of several awards recently, including the Large Business of the Year Award from the Ozark Area Chamber of Commerce.
"Butterball supports the communities it serves through active involvement, volunteering and charitable contributions," said Rod Brenneman, president and chief executive officer of the company. "This recognition reinforces Butterball’s ongoing commitment to serving as a strong corporate citizen in the many communities where we operate, in Ozark and nationally."
The company was chosen because of several initiatives and programs implemented in 2011, including a Shop Til’ You Drop Christmas program and for donating ice and meals and nearly 10,000 pounds of turkey products, in coordination with the Fort Smith Food Bank, to help tornado victims in the area.
Butterball has also earned several environmental recognition awards from the American Meat Institute for 10 of its plants and feed mills nationwide, including six in Arkansas. The award recognizes member companies that go above and beyond regulation by designing and implementing innovative upgrades or environmental programs.
As part of the company’s Doing Business Right program, Butterball has many conservation initiatives that involve the reduction, reuse or recycling of materials used in its production process through advanced environmental technology.
"At Butterball, we proactively work to maintain corporate social responsibility standards," said Steve Valesko, vice president of engineering at Butterball. "We strive to reduce environmental impact by implementing innovative technologies and initiatives that help improve operations and overall efficiency."
