Canadian Newsprint Tariffs Halted

American newspaper publishers got good news last week when the U.S. International Trade Commission terminated tariffs imposed on newsprint imported from Canada.

Newspaper executives, including General Manager Lynn Hamilton of the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, had argued that the trade levies on Canadian printing stock were an unnecessary blow to a publishing industry already facing major economic hurdles.
