Harvest House of Cannabis is facing a lawsuit over its name, which is very close to the name of Harvest Cannabis Dispensary of Conway, which opened in October.
Robbin Rahman, representing his parents, who co-own the Conway dispensary, objected to the Harvest House of Cannabis name last week at a meeting of the Arkansas Medical Marijuana Commission, which received formal notice that the Rodney Parham dispensary was changing its brand from Natural State Wellness Dispensary.
He argued that allowing a combination of “Harvest” and “Cannabis” in the names of two of the four dispensaries in central Arkansas’ Zone 5 defies business logic and invites confusion among patients. Commissioners replied that they lacked purview and that Harvest Cannabis Dispensary should await the outcome of its pending litigation.
“We filed suit in Faulkner County Circuit Court,” Rahman told Whispers, fearing that a second “Harvest” dispensary 30 miles away would dilute his brand.
“I’d prefer not to comment on the MMC’s approach,” he said, adding that administrative agencies “get to interpret their own rules how they see fit.”
Rahman said he expects quick action by the court.
