Carl Vogelpohl Leaves Legacy, Returns to Consulting

1 min read

Well that didn’t take long.

Carl Vogelpohl quit as CEO of Legacy Neurosurgery in Little Rock after less than three months on the job to restart his political consulting business, Split Rail Consulting of Little Rock.

In July, Vogelpohl began working for Legacy, which is owned by Dr. Scott Schlesinger. Schlesinger, as we’ve reported, is the subject of a particularly unpleasant lawsuit in which he is accused of shortchanging his former friend, Dr. Eren Erdem, hundreds of thousands of dollars in physician fees.

In court filings, Schlesinger has denied wrongdoing.

Vogelpohl told us last week that he left Legacy because he “just decided that the opportunity was too great to pass up … to return to the consulting world.”

Split Rail’s specialty is analytics and voter information.

Vogelpohl was the former chief of staff for U.S. Rep. Tim Griffin, R-Ark., who announced last year that he wouldn’t seek re-election to his 2nd District congressional seat.

Before joining his staff, Vogelpohl helped Griffin win his campaign in 2010. Vogelpohl started working on campaigns beginning with the 2008 political cycle.

Vogelpohl said that he’s been talking with “quite a few folks” and expects “to have a pretty active role in the remainder of this political cycle.”
