Summit Utilities of Centennial, Colorado, announced Tuesday that Carmen Perez-Carlton, a business executive with decades of experience, has joined the company’s board of directors.
Perez-Carlton previously was an independent director on the board of Uniti Group Inc., having served in that capacity since October 2019. She serves on other boards of entities, including Coconut Grove Bank, Florida International University and the United Way of Greater Miami.
Summit Utilities Board Chairman Henry Fayne said in a statement that Summit, which serves about 425,000 natural gas customers in Arkansas, is continually looking for innovative ways to provide responsible natural gas services.
“Perez-Carlton’s vast knowledge and experience will be beneficial as we lead Summit into the future,” Fayne said.
“I am looking forward to joining Summit’s Board of Directors,” Perez-Carlton said in a news release. “I believe in Summit’s mission of safety and its customer-centric mentality and I look forward to helping guide Summit into the next phase as a company and it to have a long lasting impact in the communities it serves.”
From January 2017 to July 2019, Perez-Carlton served as an independent adviser for Crown Castle International Corp., a publicly-traded fiber infrastructure REIT.
She also was president of FPL FiberNet LLC from 2007 until it was acquired by Crown Castle in January 2017. Before FPL FiberNet, she served as assistant controller and director of Revenue and Recovery for Florida Power & Light Co. She holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Florida International University and became a CPA. Capacity Media recognized Perez-Carlton in 2013 as one of the top 10 women in the telecommunications industry.
