The CARTI Auxiliary’s 48th annual Festival of Trees has surpassed fundraising records for the second consecutive year, raising nearly $870,000.
A press release from the cancer center said that “thanks to an anonymous match,” more than $100,000 of this year’s Festival of Trees proceeds will go toward expanding CARTI’s clinical research program, aiming to increase residents’ access to therapies and treatments.. The funding will allow the not-for-profit provider to place research coordinators at CARTI Cancer Centers statewide, enabling patients to access therapies closer to home. CARTI is currently the top enroller in the U.S. for multiple clinical trials.
The Festival of Trees is a holiday fundraising event that includes three nights: the Sugar Plum Ball, a father-daughter dance; the Festival of Fashion, a New York Fashion Week-style runway show; and Tux ‘n Trees, a black-tie gala. Since its inception, Festival of Trees has raised more than $11 million.
“At CARTI, we believe the hope of ‘brighter tomorrows’ begins with ensuring all Arkansans have access to trusted cancer care, including lifesaving clinical trials,” Jennifer Selig, executive director of the CARTI Foundation, said in the release. “The community’s continued support for events like Festival of Trees is pivotal to reducing barriers, enhancing patient outcomes and improving quality of life for those in our state facing cancer.”
CARTI announced last December that its 47th annual Festival of Trees event raised a record $830,000.
