Casey Laman, Legendary Mayor of NLR, Dies at 98

William Fewell "Casey" Laman, legendary former mayor of North Little Rock, died Monday morning, his granddaughter confirmed.

He was 98.

Laman served four terms from 1958 through 1972 and the balance of an unfilled mayoral term from 1979 through 1980. He is credited by the Encyclopedia of Arkansas History & Culture with "moderniz[ing] one of the state’s most populous cities by directing millions of federal, state, and local dollars for housing, education, recreation, and infrastructure."

Funeral arrangements were incomplete and will be handled by Roller-Owens Funeral Home at 5509 JFK Blvd. in North Little Rock.
