Cathy Owen Becomes 1st Woman to Lead Arkansas Bankers Association

Cathy Owen became the first woman elected to the Arkansas Bankers Association’s top post when she was installed Tuesday as chairman for 2018-19.

Owen is chairman of Eagle Bank & Trust, and chairman, president and CEO of State Holding Co. in Little Rock. She is also the managing partner of One Financial Centre, a partner in H&M Realty & Hastings Holdings and president of Your Global Source Partner.  

Other officers installed Tuesday at the 128th Annual ABA Convention at the Robinson Center in Little Rock include Chairman-Elect Robert Robinson IV, market president of Simmons Bank in El Dorado; Vice Chairman Jonathan Harrell, chairman of Generations Bank in Rogers and president and CEO of Harrell Bancshares Inc.; and Treasurer Jim Cargill, president and CEO of Arvest Bank. 

Owen holds a bachelor’s degree in finance and banking from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. She is also a graduate of the Southwest Graduate School of Banking at Southern Methodist University and has been an active member of the Arkansas Bankers Association’s board. 

Owen currently serves on the Baptist Hospital Foundation Board, North Little Rock Chamber of Commerce Board, their executive committees, the Arkansas Inland Maritime Museum Foundation Board and Fifty for the Future board. She also teaches for the Arkansas Scholars Program.

She has served as an Arkansas State Fair Talent & Queen judge for the past 12 years and is a past chairman of the North Little Rock Chamber of Commerce, president of the Arkansas Arts Center Fine Arts Club and is an alumna of the National Security Forum Air War College at Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery, Alabama.
