Celadon Trucking Shuts Last Little Rock Operation

1 min read

Celadon Group Inc., the Indianapolis trucking company that acquired the assets of failing Continental Express Inc. three years ago, shut down its last Little Rock operation on Friday, President Paul Will confirmed to ArkansasBusiness.com.

The employees, about a dozen people who were involved in driver management and customer service, were all offered jobs elsewhere in the company, although only one has accepted and three others have expressed some interest, he said.

"We really enjoyed the individuals down there. Otherwise we wouldn’t have offered them jobs and moving allowance," Will said. The employees who weren’t willing to transfer out of Arkansas were given "a good amount of severance," he said.

Celadon had not operated a terminal in Little Rock since shortly after it acquired the remnants of Continental, and Will said it proved inefficient to continue to provide driver and customer services without a companion terminal.
