1 min read

Matthew Stripling has been named executive director of the American Heart Association’s central Arkansas office in Little Rock.

That office has five employees and hosts annual events that include Festival of Wines, Heart Ball, Heart Walk, Go Red for Women and Vestido Rojo.

Stripling, a central Arkansas native, succeeds Joyce Taylor. He led the AHA’s work focused on hypertension, outpatient quality improvement programs and local policy, systems and environment change initiatives.

“Our large network of volunteers is the driving force behind creating a healthier central Arkansas as we work with supporters and community partners to find collective solutions to address health equity, Covid-19, women’s health, hypertension, nutrition security, tobacco and vaping and improve systems of care,” Stripling said in a news release.

He started at the AHA as community impact director in central Arkansas in 2017, then was promoted to senior director of rural health for the southwest region in 2019.

At the beginning of the 2020-21 fiscal year, he was promoted again to lead the AHA’s community impact teams in Arkansas, Oklahoma and New Mexico.

In addition, Stripling is a 2019 National Community ConnecTivity Award recipient.
