Chad May, formerly a commercial banker with Regions Bank in Little Rock, has been named CEO of Armor Bank of Forrest City, which also announced that it will expand into central Arkansas.
The bank, which was acquired last year by Mark Waldrip of Moro and his son, Nathan Waldrip of Jonesboro, has not revealed its exact plan for central Arkansas, although Nathan Waldrip hinted to Arkansas Business last summer about the possibility of growth through acquisition.
No branch or acquisition applications by Armor Bank were listed on the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency’s website as of Friday morning, although applications submitted within the past week would not yet be public.
May, a Pine Bluff native, will also be CEO of Armor Bank’s holding company, Big Creek Bancshares Inc. He will assume his new job on Monday and continue to be based in Little Rock.
“I am very honored to join the Armor bank team,” May said in a press release announcing his new position. “I have a great deal of respect for the entire Waldrip family and I am excited to lead such a talented group of individuals as we work toward growing our Central Arkansas presence and beyond.”
May has 19 years of banking experience, the last nine years in business and commercial banking with Regions. He graduated from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville in 1998 with a bachelor’s degree in marketing management.
