The Children’s Safety Center in Springdale received a $1.3 million challenge grant from the Mabee Foundation of Midland, Texas.
The Mabee Foundation provides grants to nonprofit organizations to fund construction projects. In order to receive the money, the Children’s Safety Center will have to raise slightly more than $2.3 million by April 2022.
The funds are meant for an expansion the organization has planned at its Washington County campus. The CSC received $3 million from the J.B and Johnelle Hunt Family in October; a 15,000-SF building will be named after the Hunts.
The Children’s Safety Center provides services and support for victims of child abuse. The CSC has raised more than $9 million in its fundraising campaign and is scheduled to break ground on the new facility in April 2022.
“We are truly honored that the Mabee Foundation has chosen to support our project by issuing a challenge grant,” said CSC Executive Director Elizabeth Shackelford. “With this challenge, the Mabee Foundation has made it clear they understand how important the Children’s Safety Center is to the children of Washington County. Thanks to the Mabee Foundation, we are more excited than ever about the future home of the Children’s Safety Center.”
