Chuy’s, the restaurant chain based in Austin, Texas, is scheduled to open in Rogers on Jan. 14, officials said. The Tex-Mex restaurant applied for a liquor license for the location at 4889 W. Pauline Whitaker Parkway.
The company plans to hire 170 employees for the restaurant in addition to nine managers who are already in place, said Travis Hudson, an area supervisor with Chuy’s.
The liquor license will allow Chuy’s to operate a full bar, and the restaurant is known for its margaritas, Hudson said.
Hudson said Chuy’s hopes to have construction completed at the restaurant by mid-December.
The chain expects to begin accepting job applications Dec. 2 either on site or in a nearby location and will accept applications for five weeks, Monday through Saturday, until the location opens.
Hudson said the Rogers location will be the chain’s 49th restaurant and second in Arkansas.
Chuy’s opened in May in Little Rock, and the success of that store fueled the company’s decision to open in Rogers, Hudson said.
Hudson said the company is looking at other Arkansas locations, including Fayetteville, but nothing has been confirmed.
“We’re talking about it,” said Hudson, who oversees operations in Arkansas and the Dallas-Fort Worth area. “We have our eyes on other areas in the Arkansas region.
“Fayetteville is definitely one of the sites we’re looking at.”
