The University of Arkansas Community College at Batesville has received $100,000 from ten community partners for its “Gateway Center” expansion, which includes the acquisition 52 acres and a 100,000 SF building nearby its current campus.
Contributors include First Community Bank, White River Distributors, Atlas Asphalt, Frank A. Rogers Company, Future Fuel, White River Now, Bad Boy Mowers, La Croix Precision Optics, Peco Foods, Centennial Bank and Citizens Bank, UACCB said in a news release.
The expansion will enable the community college to better execute programs with “unique space needs” such as commercial driving, agricultural technology, heavy equipment operators and industrial training spaces.
“These are programs that feed high-demand industries in the state,” Brian Shonk, UACCB chancellor, said in a statement. “Our programs are responsive to real employment needs and providing the best training possible in these programs benefits not just the students, but our local employers and the local economy.”
