Consultants Surprised After Pine Bluff School District Fires Them

1 min read

The Pine Bluff School District’s termination of a consulting firm was news to the consulting firm.

From the Heart International Educational Services LLC of Nashville, Tennessee, doesn’t know why the school district cut ties with it in August 2015, just months after signing a contract that was worth more than $1 million.

According to its attorney, Randy Coleman of Jack Nelson Jones in Little Rock, the money for the consultant came from a federal grant.

The school district didn’t tell From the Heart that they were parting ways, Jones said.

He said he and his client reached out to the district but received the cold shoulder.

“We had no alternative but to file a suit over it,” Coleman said.

A phone message to the Pine Bluff School District wasn’t returned to Whispers either.

From the Heart is seeking more than $1 million for breach of contract.

From the Heart was supposed to help the teachers and school officials improve the students’ achievement.

The school district, which serves 4,450 students, needs assistance in several areas related to student scores.

The average ACT entrance exam score for the district’s students was 17.6 out of a possible 36, according the court filing.
