Conway Machine Inc. of Conway announced on Monday an agreement worth about $500,000 with Plecamer of Mexico City for exclusive distribution of its products in Mexico.
The agreement was signed in April and was effective immediately. Conway Machine said its customers won’t see higher prices but might benefit from shorter lead times and better shipping rates.
The agreement doesn’t have a set term, but both parties are required to a give 30 days’ notice to cancel, and it will be re-evaluated by Conway Machine at the end of the year per the company’s policy.
Plecamer’s distribution center is in Tlalnepantla, Mexico.
Conway Machine, which has been in business since 1972, makes aftermarket spare parts for flatbed die cutters and offset printing presses.
“We first began talking in 2013 at the Odyssey Expo,” Rachael Cox of Conway Machine said. “As our business interactions increased, and I began to build a trusting relationship with [Plecamer Director] Iker Lasa Sierra, we started to discuss what a partnership could look like. Plecamer is already selling to current Conway customers, so it’s a natural and easy transition.”
Cox said the agreement helps the company better serve its customers because Plecamer brings a good location, language and technical expertise to the table.
