CoorsTek Breaks Ground on $26M Benton Expansion

2 min read

CoorsTek Inc., a privately owned manufacturer of technical ceramic components headquartered in Golden, Colorado, broke ground Thursday on a $26 million, 50,000-SF expansion at its facility in Benton.

CoorsTek has 150,000 SF of manufacturing space and employs more than 200 people in Benton. The company plans to increase its workforce by about 15 percent and purchase several pieces of “cutting edge” manufacturing equipment, according to a news release.

“This expansion will provide new jobs supporting the aerospace and defense industries, and supporting manufacturing in central Arkansas,” Co-CEO Jonathan Coors said in a news release. “As we continue to grow globally, we are committed to the long-term strength of the local communities where we live and work.”

“One of the things we do here in Benton that we are particularly proud of is producing body armor components to support the U.S. military and our allies across the globe,” he added.

The Arkansas Economic Development Commission said CoorsTek qualified for two incentives: Tax Back, which provides sales tax refunds on building materials, taxable machinery and equipment associated with the project, and Advantage Arkansas, which provides a state income tax credit of 1 percent of total payroll.

Gov. Asa Hutchinson said in a news release that Arkansans understand manufacturing and that the state is one of the highest ranked for its percentage of manufacturing employees.

“CoorsTek is a great example of an advanced manufacturing company that has put its faith in our talented and dedicated workforce,” he said. “They are a strong community partner, and I look forward to a great relationship for many years to come.”

The governor added, “The Coors are a family of entrepreneurs. They’re a family that believes in community, in values, in hard work, and that’s a good fit for Arkansas.”
