Corrugated Specialties of Fort Smith, a provider of custom corrugated packaging solutions, announced Monday that it has been acquired by its current president Marcus Slavens.
Slavens will assume the roles of chairman and CEO from Paul Henson, son of the late William R. Henson, who founded Corrugated Specialties in 1971.
Slavens has served as president of Corrugated Specialties since 2017.
Henson said in a news release that under the ownership of Slavens, the company is “well positioned” for the future.
“Marcus brings a wealth of experience and expertise from his many years in the corrugated industry, including a significant tenure with International Paper,” Henson said in the release. “He has traveled the world working on advanced packaging machinery and systems. As a seven year veteran of Corrugated Specialties, he is deeply familiar with the company’s operations and culture. He has been an integral part of the company and is committed to preserving the legacy established by the Henson family, while continuing to drive innovation and growth for the future.”
Corrugated Specialties employs 45 full time staff and serves customers within a 300 mile radius of Fort Smith, as well as nationwide clients.
“Under the leadership of Paul and his wife Suzanne, the company has built a solid reputation for quality and service, becoming a trusted name in the corrugated industry,” Slavens said in the release. “I am humbled by the legacy that Bill started over 50 years and that Paul and Suzanne have proudly continued. I am honored that they have placed their trust in me and the team here at the company, and I am grateful for the opportunity to continue the legacy.”
