Cox Communications announced Thursday that all its northwest Arkansas customers now have access to Gigablast service, which delivers 1 gigabit-per-second broadband internet speeds.
That means they’ll be able to download 100 songs within three seconds, 1,000 photos in 16 seconds and a two-hour movie in eight seconds.
“Gigablast service meets the needs of today’s internet users, who increasingly have multiple internet-dependent devices in their homes and desire faster speeds for entertainment, communication, safety and a range of other uses,” Curt Stamp, Cox Arkansas Market vice president, said in a news release. “Cox Communications’ multimillion-dollar network investments, including the deployment of DOCSIS 3.1 technology, help us stay significantly ahead of demand and enable smart homes, smart businesses and smart cities – all of which depend on reliable fast Internet service.”
Cox is making upgrades to its infrastructure in northwest Arkansas as part of the its commitment to invest $10 billion in its network over the next five years, according to the release.
