Craighead County Reports Record Revenue in March

Craighead County reported $1.5 million in revenue from its 1 percent sales tax in March, which was a record amount for the month.

The amount was up 25 percent from March 2011, to according to records from the Craighead County Treasurer’s Office.

The county also had a record amount collected in February with $1.7 million, up 2.32 percent from February 2011.

Through the first quarter of 2012, the county has generated $4.5 million in revenue from the tax, which is 7.31 percent higher than the same period in 2011.

The money the county received in March is from purchases made in January.

Meanwhile, Craighead County’s unemployment rate has remained flat. In January and February, the rate was 7.7 percent, which was slightly higher than the state unemployment rate of 7.6 percent in February, the latest figures available.
