The Crain Automotive Group is adding two more dealerships to its portfolio.
Crain, led by Larry Crain Sr. and Chris Crain, bought two Breeden dealerships in Fort Smith. Crain bought the Kia dealership at 8200 Hwy. 71 S. and will rename it Crain Kia of Fort Smith, and it also bought the Hyundai dealership at 3600 Zero St. and will rename it Crain Hyundai of Fort Smith.
Both are scheduled to go into effect Monday, a company spokesman said. The Fort Smith dealerships, the first in the area for Crain, are the company’s 15th and 16th stores.
A purchase price was not disclosed.
“We’re excited about it, for sure,” said Drew Dees, Crain’s marketing director. “We’re obviously in a growth mode.”
Dees said Crain liked what market research of the Fort Smith area showed for growth potential. He said the company didn’t specifically target the area but when the dealerships became available, it was a deal too good to pass up.
Crain is still looking at other possible acquisitions, Dees said.
“If the right deal came up, we would entertain it,” Dees said. “It has to be the right fit for us. We’re pretty selective.”
