Cromwell Architects Engineers Inc. of Little Rock on Monday announced that it’s expanding to Charlotte, bringing 20 jobs to the area.
The 140-year-old firm said it’s growing its footprint to attract talent and better service a growing number of business relationships in the region. Cromwell will initially focus on existing clients within their federal and industrial market base in the region, according to a news release on the expansion. The company’s projects in the area include office, recreation, health care, specialty retail, distribution and manufacturing developments.
Cromwell said it considered locations throughout the U.S. before deciding to open an office in Charlotte. The company is in the process of relocating key employees to the area.
The office is expected to open by the end of the year.
“Charlotte is a growing city that is attracting talented architects and engineers,” Dan Fowler, president of Cromwell, said in an email to Arkansas Business. “It has a very friendly, relational business culture, similar to what we find in Arkansas and we are able to reach out to client and project locations with an easy drive or short flight” out of Charlotte Douglas International Airport.
Cromwell also has offices in Sprindgale and in Landstuhl, Germany. The company was No. 2 on Arkansas Business’ 2024 list of the state’s largest architecture firms ranked by the number of registered architects employed.
Select CLT, the business recruitment team at the Charlotte Regional Business Alliance, said in a news release that it began working with Cromwell last summer after the company reached out for assistance in site selection and market research.
“My family and I are extremely excited to join the Charlotte community,” Kody Hart, regional director at Cromwell, said in the release. “Throughout our visits and short period living in the area, our family has been overwhelmed by the reception and kindness we’ve encountered from individuals in the Charlotte area. We look forward to becoming active members of the community, building lasting relationships, and raising our children in this wonderful area.”
