Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art got some love recently from The Art Newspaper, which describes itself as “the journal of record for the visual arts world.”

The newspaper listed the Bentonville museum among “The most exciting museum openings in 2026.” Crystal Bridges opened in 2011, but its 114,000-SF expansion is scheduled to debut on June 6.

“The expansion, which was first announced in 2021 and began the following year, will open a month before the 250th anniversary of the signing of the US Declaration of Independence — one of a plethora of events planned throughout the country,” The Art Newspaper noted.

In addition to Crystal Bridges, the other “most exciting museum openings in 2026” include the $720 million Los Angeles County Museum of Art and the V&A East (an outpost of the Victoria & Albert Museum) in London.

Meanwhile, Southern Living declared the city of Bentonville among the top five “hottest travel destinations” in the South in 2026, along with the ever-popular Charleston, South Carolina; Atlanta; Asheville, North Carolina; and Palm Beach, Florida.
