Andrew James, a professor in the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences departments of psychiatry and neurology, has been named the director of the Helen L. Porter and James T. Dyke Brain Imaging Research Center.

Nicola “Nikki” Edge, professor and vice chair of research in the UAMS Department of Family & Preventive Medicine, was invested in the Cathy Cole Seilhan and Denton Seilhan Endowed Chair for Child & Family Resilience.

John Talburt has been named the inaugural recipient of the University of Arkansas at Little Rock’s Vision for the Future Endowed Professorship.

Steven Jossell

Steven Jossell has been named the next vice chancellor of the University of Arkansas at Monticello College of Technology-McGehee.

Laura Clark, vice chancellor for academics at the University of Arkansas Community College Hope-Texarkana, has been named interim chancellor of the school effective July 1. The chancellor’s position is being vacated by Christine Holt, who has accepted a new job in Fresno, California, as deputy chancellor at State Center Community College District.

Energy

David Haley has joined the board of directors of Murphy USA of El Dorado as an independent director. Haley is president emeritus of HBK Capital Management of Dallas.

Alan York

Alan York has been selected as the next director of the Arkansas Oil & Gas Commission and chief administrator of energy for the Arkansas Department of Energy.

Government

Clint O’Neal, executive director of the Arkansas Economic Development Commission, was recognized by Consultant Connect on its 2025 North America’s Top 50 Economic Developers list.

Noah Watson has been named deputy solicitor general in the Arkansas attorney general’s office.

Jodie Clementson has joined the Baptist Health Surgical Clinic of Central Arkansas in Little Rock. Clementson treats benign breast disease and breast cancer.

Jonathan Alvarado

Jonathan Alvarado has been promoted to director of business development and operations at MD Hair Labs in Rogers.

Nonprofits

Rodney Shepard, regional executive for Arvest Bank, and Edie Steward, senior vice president and chief mission officer for Goodwill Industries of Arkansas, have joined the board of Forward Arkansas of Little Rock, a nonprofit focused on improving education.

Leighia Hammond has been hired by the Arkansas Single Parent Scholarship Fund of Little Rock as development officer, annual giving. Austin King has also been hired by ASPSF as the nonprofit’s first community engagement coordinator.

Karyna Johnson, a music specialist at Otter Creek Elementary in Little Rock, has been named the Arkansas Fine Arts Teacher of the Year by Arkansans for the Arts.

Robert Koster has been appointed the next president and CEO of the University of Arkansas Foundation Inc. of Fayetteville.
