Damgoode Pies is shutting down after more than two decades in business in Little Rock.
The pizza chain said it’s closing its location at 6706 Cantrell Rd. on Wednesday. Damgoode’s original location in Hillcrest closed Oct. 30.
The Fayetteville location remains open as a franchise with a different owner and operator.
Founder Jeff Trine announced the news in a Facebook post Monday morning.
“We have taken on enormous debt to survive post-COVID restaurant life, and I am not willing to take on any more,” he said. “More importantly, I am now a father of a nearly 2-year-old girl, and I refuse to miss any more of her childhood in the name of saving the company. It’s just not worth it.”
He continued: “Thank you all so much for going on this ride with me for nearly 23 years. I truly love our product, and I am extremely grateful to all the Damgoode staff and customers who have been doing their Damgoodest to weather the storm of the last few years. You have been the driving force to stay in the fight for fresh-baked cheesy deliciousness.”
