Darragh Co. Has Deal to Acquire Alabama Wholesaler

1 min read

Construction wholesaler Darragh Company of Little Rock announced that it’s acquiring Service Construction Supply of Birmingham, Alabama.

The deal is effective June 1. Financial terms were not disclosed.

SCS owners and founders Gilbert Roberts Jr., Davis Bennett III and Rick Jeffcoat will stay on and continue working for the company, Darragh said in a news release.

The transaction gives Darragh two locations in Birmingham, bringing its total to 17 across six states. It comes after the acquisition of three new locations in 2021

Darragh President Ted Darragh described SCS as a “leader in the region” that will help the company continue growing. Rich Dunlap, CEO of Darragh, said company leaders have been friends with the owners of SCS for more than 20 years.

“It’s an ideal cultural fit,” Dunlap said in the release.

Bennett shared a similar sentiment.

“Darragh is a great fit for us,” he said. “Our goal is to ensure longevity for our company. That legacy is important to our employees and customers. We’ve known and respected the Darragh family for many years and couldn’t imagine a better partnership.”

Darragh, founded in 1906, is known for supplying to cement for the construction of the Arkansas State Capitol. In addition to building materials, it provides geotextile products, forming systems, safety products and tools.
