Gov.-elect Asa Hutchinson has announced Danny Games as deputy director of the Arkansas Economic Development Commission, and Daryl Bassett as the new director of the Department of Workforce Services.

Games is a former president of the Arkansas Economic Developers Association and a current member of the Metro Little Rock Alliance Executive Committee. Currently, he’s the manager of corporate affairs at BHP Billiton.

Games previously served as senior director of corporate development and government affairs at Chesapeake Energy from 2007-11, and senior project manager at Entergy from 1998-2007.

“[Games’] knowledge of our state and its economy, coupled with his education and breadth of experience in this particular field, make him the ideal choice as we continue the national search for AEDC’s new director,” Hutchinson said in a news release.

Bassett will replace Artee Williams as director of the Department of Workforce Services. He is a former division chief at DWS.

Currently, Bassett is director of Business & Commercial Services at the Arkansas Secretary of State’s office. Prior, he was commissioner of the Arkansas Public Service Commission from 2001-10, and liaison for DWS to former Gov. Mike Huckabee from 1999-2001.

“[Basset’s] institutional knowledge, in addition to his experience working within state government, will provide him the necessary tools to lead this critical department in my administration,” Hutchinson said.
