David R. Fox Named CEO of Medical Center of South Arkansas

1 min read

David R. Fox has been named chief executive officer of Medical Center of South Arkansas, effective April 11.

He replaces Scott Street, who resigned in August after two no-confidence votes by the medical staff. Arkansas Business, in an Oct. 11 Whisper, reported that the previously successful and generally well-liked hospital administrator was likely ousted because he made changes that weren’t popular with the staff or the hospital’s board.

Parent company Community Health Systems of Franklin, Tennessee, said then that it kept Street on the payroll at a northwest Arkansas facility but has not disclosed where he’ll be working or in what capacity. Arkansas Business will update this story.

Fox has more than 25 years of clinical and hospital and health systems operations experience, most recently serving as chief operations officer for Baxter Regional Medical Center in Mountain Home.

Before joining Baxter Regional, he was president then market vice president of network development at CHI St. Vincent in Little Rock. Fox began his career as a nuclear medicine technologist and has served in clinical and management roles at hospitals in Texas and Oklahoma as well as Baptist Health in Little Rock.

Fox earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Central Arkansas in Conway and a Master of Business Administration from Oklahoma City University in Tulsa. He is also a fellow of both the American College of Healthcare Executives and American Healthcare Radiology Administrators.
