1 min read

Centennial Bank, a subsidiary of Home BancShares Inc. of Conway, on Tuesday named Davy Carter as regional president, with duties and responsibilities that include overseeing the company’s acquisition of Liberty Bank of Arkansas Inc. of Jonesboro.

Publicly traded Home BancShares’ $280 million deal to purchase Liberty Bank was announced June 25. The deal will create the second largest bank holding company headquartered in the state with about $7.1 billion in total assets.

“We were grateful Davy returned to our corporate family a few months ago,” Randy Sims, Centennial Bank’s CEO, said in a news release. “This will be the perfect opportunity for Davy and the bank.”

Carter, of Cabot, is speaker of the Arkansas House of Representatives, where he is serving his third term.

In May, Carter was named executive vice president at Home BancShares. Before that, he was division president for Centennial Bank in Cabot. Carter had been considering entering the race for governor, but decided not to seek the Republican nomination in 2014.

Carter is a finance graduate of Arkansas State University in Jonesboro and an honors graduate of University of Arkansas at Little Rock’s William H. Bowen School of Law.
