Today’s Power Inc. of North Little Rock on Tuesday named Derek Dyson as the solar array builder’s new president and CEO.
Dyson officially takes over on Jan. 1, the company said in a news release. He succeeds Michael Henderson, who is retiring after leading the company since it was founded in 2014. Today’s Power is owned by the state’s electric cooperatives.
Dyson is a joint owner in the Washington, D.C.-based law firm of Duncan, Weinberg, Genzer & Pembroke, P.C., which provides legal services focusing on energy, utility and environmental law. He has experience working with electric cooperatives and other clients on projects that include solar, wind and ocean thermal energy conversion, along with waste-to-energy generation.
Dyson is also a former federal contracting officer with the U.S. Navy Special Projects Office and a former law clerk at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.
He holds a J.D. from the American University Washington College of Law, a master’s degree in business administration from Florida Institute of Technology and a bachelor’s from Virginia Tech.
“We are very excited to welcome Mr. Dyson with his unique and vast range of experience as he leads TPI going forward,” Rick Love, chairman of the TPI board of directors, said in the release. “We commend Michael Henderson for the solid foundation established during his leadership here at TPI.”
