Myron Jackson, CEO of The Design Group in Little Rock, is giving back to his hometown, literally, by donating work for the city’s “Stay In and Tell a Friend” advertising campaign, now heard on the radio and seen on billboards and in digital and social media.
“What we did is we gifted the work,” said Jackson, who said the campaign’s simple but memorable message is for people to stay home and let others know that “social distancing saves lives” during the coronavirus pandemic.
He credits Mayor Frank Scott Jr.’s foresight in imposing distancing and curfew measures early. “COVID-19 is not a game,” Jackson told Whispers. “So why would you play with your life?”
Jackson founded The Design Group with cousin Telly Noel in 2007 intentionally to help clients reach black and Latino audiences. A child of east Little Rock with an imprisoned father, he also feels an obligation as a successful black businessman to give back.
Jackson’s “better half,” Stephanie Jackson, is on Scott’s mayoral staff.
Jackson expects the ad campaign, which his team turned around from concept to execution in less than two weeks, to continue for eight weeks or more. “My staff and I live in this city,” he said. “We want to flatten the curve, to do our part to help our neighbors.”
