DeWayne Rose, director of emergency management for West Memphis, has been named to the National League of Cities 2023 Public Safety and Crime Prevention committee.

The federal advocacy committee is responsible for developing policy positions on issues involving crime prevention, gun control, substance abuse, juvenile justice, disaster preparedness and more.

Rose will serve a one-year term.

“I am extremely honored to serve on the National League of Cities Public Safety and Crime Prevention Committee,” he said in a statement. “Being able to advocate for local government at the federal level will be beneficial for my city, my county, and my state.”

Committee members include local elected officials and city staff from NLC member cities and towns across the country. Newark Mayor Ras J. Baraka is the chair of the 2023 committee.
