David Deggs announced his resignation as executive director of Downtown Bentonville Inc. on Tuesday.
Deggs took the position in October 2013. He accepted a position as director of Adult & Community Education for the Fayetteville School District and will start there June 1.
“His background is in education,” said Lisa Beebe, the operations manager of DBI. “It just so happened that someone retired, and Fayetteville asked him if he’d be interested. We’ll miss him.”
Beebe said the executive committee of the 21-person board of directors is discussing whether to name an interim executive director. The committee hopes to have a permanent replacement in place by August.
DBI is a nonprofit that promotes economic development in the downtown area. It recently started the Bentonville Farmers’ Market and hosts the First Friday events downtown.
