Ben Carson
Dr. Ben Carson is set to close out the 2013-14 Harding University Studies Institute Distinguished Lecture Series next week.
The professor of neurosurgery, oncology, plastic surgery and pediatrics at the John Hopkins School of Medicine will deliver a speech, titled “America the Beautiful: Rediscovering What Made this Nation Great,” at 7:30 p.m. March 18 at the Benson Auditorium.
Carson, who has been the director of pediatric neurosurgery at Hopkins Children’s Center for more than 25 years, is the only doctor to successfully separate Siamese twins conjoined at the back of the head. The accomplishment was chronicled in the 2009 film “Gifted Hands: The Ben Carson Story,” which starred Cuba Gooding, Jr.
He is also president and co-founder of the Carson Scholars Fund and is the author of five best-selling books, including New York Times bestseller, “America the Beautiful: Rediscovering What Made this Nation Great.”
Carson is known for his motivational speaking, and has addressed the President’s National Prayer Breakfast, in addition to other civic groups and corporations.
No tickets are necessary as it will be an open seating event. For more information contact the American Studies Institute at (501) 279-4497.
