Dr. Charles Corey Scott Takes Charge as Medical Director of St. Vincent North

Dr. Charles Corey Scott assumed his new duties as medical director for the emergency department at St. Vincent North in Sherwood on April 1. “We’re very pleased to welcome Dr. Scott. His depth of knowledge and experience will serve patients at St. Vincent North very well. His expertise in bioengineering will be invaluable in guiding St. Vincent North in the acquisition of technology in medicine,” hospital President David Fox said in a press release.

Scott grew up in El Lago on the Gulf Coast of Texas near Houston. He earned an undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Texas at Austin and a master’s degree in mechanical engineering at Stanford University in California. Switching to medicine, he earned his medical degree at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, and while in medical school completed a Ph.D. in bioengineering at Rice University in Houston as part of a medical scientist training program.

Scott completed his emergency medicine residency at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, a Level 1 trauma center. He is a member of the Arkansas chapter of the American College of Emergency Physicians and is certified by the American Board of Emergency Medicine. He also practiced in Virginia.
