Dr. Dean Kumpuris of Little Rock is being recognized for his support of various downtown development projects by the World Services for the Blind Foundation.
Kumpuris is a gastroenterologist practicing in Little Rock, where he is also a member of the city board of directors. He has been instrumental in the development of the River Market District, the expansion of Riverfront Park and creating La Petite Roche Plaza.
The World Services for the Blind Foundation has for the past 13 years used its Vision Award to recognize “a distinguished Arkansan with a personal commitment to community service.” Past Vision Award honorees are Dr. Jonathan Bates, Bill Clark, Claiborne Deming, Maria Haley, Walter Hussman, Jo Luck, Jimmy Moses, Bobby Roberts, Doyle Rogers, Warren Stephens, Fitz Hill, Bob Shell and Reese Rowland.
The 14th annual Vision Award will be presented to Kumpuris at a luncheon on Oct. 8 at the DoubleTree Hotel in downtown Little Rock.
