E.C. Barton & Co. of Jonesboro on Monday announced that it acquired the Dallas retailer Seconds & Surplus.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The four Seconds & Surplus locations in Dallas, Richardson, Grand Prairie and Lewisville will continue operating under the same name. The company, founded in 1987, sells discount building materials.
“I know that I am placing the company in good hands, and I am confident that customers will continue to find the same great values and excellent customer service that they have relied on at Seconds and Surplus,” owner and President Kevin Otto said in a news release.
Mark Biggers, president of E.C. Barton, said the deal presented the company with the “right opportunity for growth.” The company operates 112 stores in its two retail divisions, Home Outlet and Barton’s. It has one Home Outlet location in Dallas and 10 other Home Outlet locations across Texas.
“This acquisition gives us the vehicle to expand our existing footprint in the Dallas market with a great company that aligns with our values and has a proven track record,” Biggers said. “We are excited to welcome Seconds and Surplus into the E.C. Barton and Company family.”
