El Dorado News-Times Goes Local with Managing Editor

1 min read

The El Dorado News-Times has promoted Caitlan Butler to managing editor. Just eight years ago, Butler, 26, was busy graduating from El Dorado High School.

“Go Wildcats,” she said in her own paper’s report on her promotion.

A reporter at the Wehco Medica Inc. paper for three years, she succeeds Caleb Slinkard, who became senior editor at the Macon Telegraph in Georgia.

News-Times General Manager Rita Haldeman praised Butler, who was born in Conway but moved to El Dorado as a grade-schooler. “At every turn she has stepped up to make our community newspaper the best it can be.”

Butler, who attended the University of Arkansas, will serve as a regional managing editor for Wehco, also heading small newsrooms at the Magnolia Banner-News and the Camden News.
